Verant has recently begun sending out "bogus" spawn information in the data stream. The mobs are normally duplicates of mobs that people are always trying to hunt down (rare loot spawns). The mobs have an extra bit encoded in the stream that tell the EQ client that the mob is fictitious. ShowEQ still receives the information that the mob has been spawned, but doesn't interpret the bit that says it is bogus (yet). As such, Verant can watch these "phantom spawns" to see which, if any, players run to the area where it loaded -- if a certain player inevitably goes to the area of phantom spawns, then Verant feels safe to assume that they are using ShowEQ or another "cheat" application and will close the account.
This is just a little warning to let you know that they are doing it. If you are using ShowEQ to track Rare spawns, do it intelligently and don't immediately run to the mob the instant it spawns...you may be walking into a trap.
