I had many of the same problems people have described here and managed to get everything working again. Here is what I did:-
1) rm /usr/local/bin/showeq*
2) download new libEQ.a from ftp://smurfette.trifocus.net and put it in /usr/lib (or /usr/local/lib if thats yr preference)
3) rm -rf /home/cvs/showeq (or wherever you keep your cvs source). I had problems until I totally removed my CVS source directory and recreated it from the latest CVS.
4) download latest CVS build as usual and compile and install.
Bingo !!! No more problems. Works like a dream.
