Redhat 7.3 ./configure error

Hi Guys, I cannot ./configure my showeq installation, follow is the message could anyone please help out give me some hint?

Redhat 7.3
QT3.0.3 uninstalled then install QT2.3.1

There's you 'problem', please do a search on this forums, this 'problem' is dealt with about 4 times a week.

Errr.. I know it don't support 3.0.3 so I downgrade to QT2.3.1 err... and Yes, stupid me I do recompile the whole QT and GCC on last installation with Redhat 7.2 :(

I would firmly recommend you do the following;
Go to this site (http://www.hookedonphonics.com/) and take advantage of their fine products.
Then, go to this thread (http://seq.sourceforge.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1511) in the "ShowEQ Announcements" forum from June 22, 2002 and read it. We make the announcements for a reason.
Learn to use the search (http://seq.sourceforge.net/search.php?s=) feature.

If you get the wicked message, check the config.log and see what it says. Something in your install is prolly screwy or incomplete.


Edit: Instead of editting your message to blank, could you please add the thing that caused the message to appear? That way, it'll be helpfull when other people are using the search option (trust me, there are people who do)

Gawd enuff already with insisting everyone search before asking a question! Have you thought that perhaps the search capability isn't highlighted enough on this site and therin lies the problem? This is the help desk forum after all. It's not exactly helping someone to tell them to find the answer on their own. And don't give me any of that "teach a man to fish" drivel. It seems like every friggin post has one or more people saying "you should have searched for this". If you were to add up all these posts, they'd equal or surpass the number of posts that ask the same question twice.

Anyways, Mr. Suspicious told him it was a version issue. Zaphod (the lead SEQ developer) gave him a link to more information about it... Throwing in a reminder to search was just on the side.
And if you would have looked at the links Zaphod posted, you would have found:

Workaround for Qt 3.0.[1-4] bug involving slots that take an int argument with the string "int" in the name being unable to recieve events from menus (just renamed them all). Qt 3.0.x now officially supported (and is about as supported as it will be until ShowEQ 5, whenever that is). This also makes it so that RedHat 7.3 (and possibly Mandrake 8.2) users can compile out of the box using "./configure --enable-old-compiler"

Whether we're talking about all men being created equal, Euclid's proof of the Pythagorean Theorem, or the fact that there are tons of people who aren't using the search utility on this site, it's all the same. If it isn't being used, the solution isn't to constantly point people to it inside of individual threads.

i have a good solution... make the search button HUGE. and randomly make certain buttons goto the search page... like, if you press "post new topic" it is really search :)

You know - I've even been the victim of a "search, Search! SEARCHYOUMORON!" attack (and partially deserved it) but I still sit back and laugh when someone comes along and shows a lack of real understanding.

An instructor instructs intelligent people who want to and have the capacity to figure things out on their own. Intelligent people don't want the answers just handed to them, they like to learn on their own and only ask questions that point the in the right direction.
