Network setup question (yes I searched)

Just checking it this would work without the Hub.

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I searched and could only find this setup using a HUB.

Also, to start showeq, command would be (assuming LAN nic is eth1) ./showeq -i eth1 192.168.0.2 ?

Well in that case, the answer is yes, assuming you get the EQ box to see the internet through the linux box correctly, configure the Linux box for iptables, and set it as your gateway for your windows box.

Remember, the generic picture if you use gateways and IP tables to get showeq to work is:

....................Linux with iptables and ipforward

Yeah, will be running IPCHAINS on the Linux box, with NIC1 connected to the net, and NIC2 connected to the Windows box running EQ, via crossover cable.

Don't use IPCHAINS.

If you do, soon we'll have a post trying to explain to you why your EQ session crashes alot. IPCHAINS is just old and can't hack it.

Read up on IPTABLES and make the switch. I noticed you use 7.3 in a different question, my impression was you SHOULD have IPTABLES on your box already, if not you can get a nice rpm easily and shoot from the hip.

Ok, just assuming would have to setup with IPCHAINS. Haven't setup routing on Linux for a few years.

Yeah, I am using RedHat 7.3. Whats the default package that come with it, selected when installing?

Haven't had a chance to fiddle/have a look yet, still compiling QT (installing on new, faster, machine).

JinXer, as mentioned in NUMEROUS posts on these boards... draw a line from the Internet to your EQ running PC in your setup... does this line in any way pass the ShowEQ PC, then it works, else, it doesn't... Now, look at your drawing, does it? NO, it does not.
