ShowEQ without XFree86?

I can't seem to find anything about SEQ running in pure console.
Does SEQ really require XFree and a WM to be installed?

Yes. That would be why there is not information about running SEQ without the X GUI.

ShowEQ's functionality is 90% GUI related.. Perhaps I could see an argument for spawnlist and XP list in text, but it wouldnt give you much more than you can already get through the EQ client... it would generally be pretty useless.

If you mean an svgalib/framebuffer version... demand just isnt high enough to warrant the development effort required...

You can try Xvfb, the X Virtual Frame Buffer. :)
