anyone know a site that has it? or did i miss something in the instructions?

From the howto for Mandrake (http://www.hackersquest.org/boards/viewtopic.php?t=275)

3b.) Getting latest libEQ.a (see the file README.libEQ in the CVS files) put this file in /usr/lib ONLY. It is important that this is the ONLY libEQ.a in the library path, and that it be the most current. It’s okay to have an extra copy in say /root, but not in /lib or a few other places.

cd /usr/lib/
wget ftp://smurfette.trifocus.net/pub/libeq/i386/linux/libEQ.a
Please read the howto and or FAQ's! Alot of work went into them.

i actually missed the FAQ the first time on the main page. just in my haste to get in the forums and read. others might be doing the same thing. my fault
