Option to automatically saved the map image on a timed cycle (such as every 60 seconds).

So I can have a automatically refreshed image and upload it to share if need be.

You just volunteered to alter the source and commit a patch that has this feature.
I, as an amateur cartographer, do not see that auto-saving the map would be a feature, and feel the need to speak against the idea.
How hard is it to press F2?

I guess so that if he wants his friends to know how to find him they could just type in a URL and locate him without much difficulty. I wouldn't use it myself but if someone would then it should be considered a feature.

I want to save the map image (picture) -- not the map file. The box is behind a firewall, plugged into a hub so TightVNC will not work (or at least I haven't been able to get it to work). The idea is every 60secs or so, the map image is saved to a .jpg and then ftp'ed to a server for access. Again, it was just a suggestion.

Well, if it's a feature you REALLY want, dig into the source and make the changes yourself.
Use the Source....

vnc would run on port 5901, forward that port if you have admin control of the firewall.
