Okay every now and then my monitor will go into the sleep mode. now i know on windows you can tell it not to, but how can I get it to stop on linux? it's really pissing me off because I go to see if there is something around me and I have to wait one minute for the damn thing to get back up. i've already disabled the screen saver but now I can't get rid of this :(, any help would be appreciated.

Try this in the term window: The termnal has its own screensaver you have to turn off. This one drove me nuts for weeks.
xset s 0 0
xset s noblank
xset s off
xset -dpms

if your logged in as the root user you can't seem to turn this off. it will blank to black if you don't move the mouse or do something else forabout 10 mins.
when I was logged in as root I could not even get a screensaver to work but once I logged on as a user it all was good
