Good Idle point to check file mod time?

Can anyone more familiar with showeq tell me a good function to insert a check for a file being modified? Someplace like a idle routine I would imagine. IE keyfile.dat changes and I want to emit a LoadKey call.. I've been looking around but not sure of a good place to do a check..
