I want to thank all of the "real" programers on these boards (of which I'm not). It's been a long time since I have had to do anything like this and it sure as hell is fun. I have spent more time playing with this than EQ in the last few weeks. Fortunately I've been able to get all the major code snipets from the boards.
I now have a "run in the backround, send to showeq via socket, beep when I get a new key" program. This was the third version of the scanner I'm using based on code from all of the following people that I would like to thank personally:
Thanks to: mvern, wxyz, amadeus, senseheading, and all the showeq devs.
This is where people put feature quests in these thank you messages, but I won't spoil the moment. You seem to think of the features before I do anyway. :)
Good work guys (or gals).
