It is workable the way it is.
To get them + & - to work click on something in one of the spawn / spell lists.
The cursor seems to be defaulting to the zoom level number box, + & - don't work there, just clicking the map doesn't clear this like it used to, likely a change in QT, but I have not looked at code to verify this.
