libranet difficulties

Ok, i run Libranet and am having a few difficulties installing QT.
Libranet is a Debian spinoff as far as i can tell.
Does anyone know if there is anything missing from Libranet that Debian has that would prevent QT-3.1.1 or QT-3.0.5 from installing from a base package install?

Reason i ask is because after a base install, i tried to install both QT-3.0.5 and QT-3.1.1, both gotten from trolltech, and cant do a gmake on either. anyone familiar with this, please help. ive tried finding anything on this but nothing is coming up.

i believe it is not finding the xfree86-devel or xfree86-lib files, but im unsure, and also do not have packages for either of those for libranet. Again, libranet is a debian source, with apt-get available, just need a package name to get these files.

as a side note, ive tried using the libqt3c102-mt from unstable. it borks my kde every time. i dont know if kde is just not liking the way it installs, or if there are some interwoven dependancys between the 2. (so use a different x-windows you say)well, i prefer kde, im familiar with kde, and i like the look of it. i dont want to use something else and have to learn something else entirely.
