I got the latest from CVS and it compiles fine, loads fine, but when I zone it segfaults.
anyone else having this problem?
I crashed once while in pvp teams mode (from right clicked map menu) but 4.3.18 always crashes on me in pvp mode too. When I turned pvp back off I ran around for a couple hours without any problems.
Loco
Installed Beta 2 on RH9 (full install) P3 500 512 ram runs fine no erros.

Where do those 2 files come from, and where are they placed?
eqstr_us.txt
spells_us.txt
I did a search on my system for those files and didn't come up with anything at all.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, I haven't ran a SEQ session in months, and I'm quite excited to play with this new beta!
(Great Work Zaphod as always!)

should be in your everquest folder
eqstr_us.txt
spells_us.txt
You get these files from your Everquest directory on the machine running the game. Its probably in Program Files/Sony/Everquest Trilogy. Then put them in /usr/local/share/showeq on the machine running ShowEQ.

moved over the current eqtst and spells files and it worked fine, stupid me ;)

OK! So it worked... once.
Now I'm really confused, and I can't make it work again... not sure why.
Ends the same way as before, instantly when you start loading in from char select, or zoning:
Player: ExpAA: Set: 0 total, with 0 aapoints
Segmentation fault
=-=-
I tried logging in as a 65 w/ AA's just to make sure it wasn't something silly like that...
It's now opening those 2 files I was missing which it did not before:
Info: Loaded 8485 message strings from '/usr/local/share/showeq/eqstr_us.txt' maxFormat=44460
Info: Loaded 3137 spells from '/usr/local/share/showeq/spells_us.txt' maxSpell=0x0ca2
Any other thoughts oh mad gurus?

Your spell file may be partially corrupt. I show I have 4352 Spells from a just updated spells_us.txt. My Max Spell is 0x1191 also.
Your messages file is the same amount as mine at 8485 (Max = 44460)
Just a guess, but I'm thinking when you zone, showeq is pulling your current buffs and a buff you have on is either in the corrupted data or below the 3137 mark

I've encountered this problem as well. Running mandrake 9.2 (4.3.17 seq works fine, no problems with it)
After reading this I copied over the new str files and tried again. It seems that if I zone with SoW on (after loading seq while already in eq) or cast SoW (after zoning with both eq and seq running and no buffs), it crashes.
Does this help at all? Sure seems to indicate something to do with those text files from what I'm reading here, but I've copied over 2 fresh from the patcher

Try Deleting/Moving/Renaming those files on your EQ machine and then run the patcher. It should download fresh copys of those files (you may need to do a thurough scan). Then once you have known fresh/new copies of those file copy them to your SEQ box overwriting the ones you have there now.

Thanks guys
I just cleared out the whole showeq folder, did make install and copied the 2 files over and it worked a treat, so it was probably user error on my behalf
Seq 5 looking awesome as well =) havent posted much but been using for some time and want to let the devs know their work not only is appreciated but makes this game much more fun
