Just to let you know when I cast Celestial Regen (A Cleric AA Regen) and when it didn't land on someone because they had 15 buffs, SEQ Beta 5.0.0.3 Popped right out to desktop.

Thanks again for all your Hard Work Zaphod... :D

Try the attached patch. It should fix the problem. Also, make sure you have a current spells_us.txt from your EQ direcotry on your windows machine.

Enjoy,
Zaphod (dohpaZ)

Edited to remove the version of the patch that didn't work.

I've noticed that when I cast my pet (LoZ) without a component it blows ShowEQ to the desktop screen.

Also when my claws proc wondering mind it does the same.

What can I provide you to help?

Thanks

Have you tried applying the patch I gave above yet?

Enjoy,

Still does it after applying the patch and recompiling.

I cast Supernal Elixir on myself, then hit my AA Hot Key to cast Celestial Regen, knowing it would not land on me due to the elixer spell, and SEQ Beta 5.0.0.3 popped out to the Desktop.

Now, it is segmentation Faulting big time. I got a Seg Fault zoning into FV, camped, restarted SEQ and before I could get all the way in, it Seg Faulted again. It did it after displaying the EQ time. Will do it everytime zoning into FV, right after displaying the EQ Time in the Terminal Window.

Hmmm, I removed the patch and can NOW zone into FV without Seg Faulting. I even cast my Elixir Spell, then Celestial Renewal and didn't Seg Fault when it didn't land. I am going to reapply the patch and re-compile to see if I can recreate the Seg Fault by zoning into FV.

Yep, after reapplying the patch, zoning into FV causes a Seg Fault right away.

FYI: I appied the patch by issuing the command patch -p0 < spellshell.diff. I also copied the Spellshell.cpp file into another directory to patch it, then copied it back into Showeq. I verified that the patch was in place.

I am running Fedora Core with all the current patches..

Before re-compiling, I do the following:
make distclean
make -f Makefile.dist
./configure
make
make install

Yes, I have the current 2 files from the Everquest Directory on my EQ Computer. If there is anything else I can do, please ask...

Doh!!!!

Forgot to add a check in one case...

/em bows head in shame. :o

Anyway, try this attached patch against the spellshell.cpp that came in the tarball or from CVS... It should clear up the remaining problems.

Enjoy,
Zaphod (dohpaZ)

Zaphod,

DL'd the 2nd patch and it works. Course I solved the problem by purchasing 200 peridots and dumping my claws..

Thanks!!!

Yep, that seems to have cured it...

Thanks again!

Humm, thought the problem was the spells file. But now I keep getting Bad CRC errors and after a few min I loose all the spawns. I double checked the eqstr_us.txt and spells_us.txt files to be the same as the ones in the everquest directory.

Warning: INVALID PACKET: Bad CRC32 [199.108.1.108:1391 -> 192.168.1.103:1622] seq 0002 len 512 crc32 (8c6b1216 != 5e8ad205)

Warning: EQPacketFragmentSequence::addFragment(): recieved Out-Of-Order fragment seq 0x0001 (0x0000) expected 0x0000

Could I get some advise? :confused:

Network => Advanced => Arq Seq Give Up

Set it to a higher value.

I set the ARQ SEQ GIVE UP to 1024. But I am still getting the BAD CRC error.

Also noticed that killing a mob doesn't remove it from the map / NPC List. The Bad CRC appears to be the mobs dieing. Like this one from when I killed a Sentry in HoH.

Warning: INVALID PACKET: Bad CRC32 [192.168.1.103:1285 -> 199.108.1.98:18432] seq 481e len 65535 crc32 (91ccdb00 != 0ddc71d4)

The spawn still showed on my SEQ map as a live spawn for about 3-4 min after that (even when the mob was looted and removed from the game). When it did finally leave the map the terminal shows.

Info: (1930) had been removed from the zone, but saw a position update on it, so assuming bogus update.

BTW: I am back to using the beta version, had the same problem on 4.19 version.

OK think it is my LINUX on this machine. I pulled out my old Redhat desktop, and loaded 5.0.3 on it and it works fine. Granted the desktop has the updated RH Kernel and this one has the initial kernel for RH 9.

So I'm not sure where my diffs are between the two systems... bah. Back to loading

Pascal7, are you sure you did the full install procedure on the new version, including the make install?

Pascal7
01-06-2004, 12:12 AM
Yup, did the full install.
( make -f Makefile.dist && ./configure && make -j2 && make install )

Then thought that I might be missing something in my Redhat 9 install so reinstalled with all packages. (got hard disk space to burn) So I wiped the computer, reinstalled RH9 and SEQ 5.0.3. Same problem.

Then reinstalled.

I'm just really wondering if the bold part could be my problem (at top of dump)?
Maybe my NIC isn't going into the right mode.
I reloaded the spells_us.txt and eqstr_us.txt from my other system. I get the Bad CRC in all zones, and on all toons. Help SEQ Jedi?

I get almost identical error when I have a gnutella client running... infact it will cause my SEQ session to crash. I have also noticed it with random other applications that access the web. If I run across them again and I remember I will make a list.

If you're playing EQ with a gnutella client running on the same box, you have one power house box and a massive internet pipe... OR you aren't sharing... OR just throttling the amount of bandwidth you give to said gnutella app.

Something to look at is your EQ machine running other applications that access the web and are actually producing those BAD CRC32 packets.

:EDIT
It dawned on me that simply looking up the 199.108.1.80 and 199.108.1.104 would tell me if it was even SOE machines sending you the bum data. As it turn out they are... so then the problem exists is to where the packets are becoming corrupted, it could be at any one of the hops between you and them, but my first guess would something on your local network. A bad router or hub. Maybe a faulty NIC or a chatty NIC causing collisions on your network (I think the amount of network access required for a gnutella client causes collisions on my network and thus I get similar error).

I'll have to try to isolate the systems tonight. I have a second Linux box on the same hum (an old Compaq box) and it is rather chatty. Also the kids play counterstrike on the other systems, but those are on a different port of the switch (not even on the hub).

I'm willing to try anything at the moment.

Having a blonde moment here...how do I "patch" the .diff file to the .cpp?

Thx :)

To apply a patch do a 'patch -p0 < patchfilename'

No, but it will be included in my next CVS commit 5.0.0.4 later this week.
