Back from CES

Hello all...

Well, I'm back from the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, NV. That show was intense and insanely large, my feet and calves are still sore... As to what I was doing at CES, well, a RL contract I was working on was a demo for CES. Now that he lead up to CES and the show itself has past I'm hoping to get some more changes into ShowEQ.

That my demo worked and that it was well received by those that saw it... ;)

As far as technology toys are concerned I loved the look of the new DirecTV HD Tivo. That unit looked sweet. Some of the new DLP projectors and plasma displays were also pretty sweet in Zaphod's book.

The quality and quantity of swag at the show was fairly low this year which doesn't bode well for the current economic outlook in my book. Booth staff sizes were low to moderate, which also tends to reflect a conservative economic outlook by the companies. I find that trade show budgets at shows, like CES, that attract corporate buyers, distributors, and investors tend to reflect the current economic outlook of the respective companies that are exhibiting. These marketing budgets are typically the last to get cut and the first restored and can be gauged by booth staff sizes along with the quality and quantity of swag. On the other hand it there were more attendess and more new products announced this year then last. This I would view as a conservatively bullish outlook on the part of the consumer electronics industry.
