How to Install the New and Improved MySEQ 2.0.1
This How To assumes that you will be running MySEQ on 2 PCs connected to a router or hub.
The first thing that must be done is .NET must be installed on BOTH PC's. The older version only required that it be on the PC running the client but now it is needed on Both. Run your Microsoft Updates listed under either START or START>PROGRAMS (Depends on your OS). Let MS Update download and install the .NET 1.1 on both PCs.
on the PC that you will be playing everquest on, click START then click RUN. In the whitespace provided type COMMAND a DOS window will appear. At the prompt type IPCONFIG this will display something like
Windows IP Configuration
Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:
Connection-Specific DNS Suffix . :
IP Address........................: 192..168.1.X
Subnet Mask.......................: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway...................: 192.168.1.1
We are concerned here with the number listed as the IP Address. Write this number down. Note: it may not look like this number at all, it all depends on your network and what type of router you have and if you have any special configurations in place for your network.
Now go here http://www.dvolve.net/EQ/MySEQ and download MySEQ Server: 2.0.1 with Executable
save it to the desktop. Once it has completed the download extract the files to a folder on your desktop ie; right click the downloaded file and choose extract to MySEQServer-2.0.1
now double click the the folder to open it and then double click the MySEQServer file that looks like a window.
Note: the file called MySEQServer that looks like an Everquest Icon with MQ on it is an Icon file not the executable.
A screen should launch that says Norton AntiVirus at the top of it and says EVERQUEST across the middle. At the bottom of that screen you will see Listening for connection on port: 6969
Now launch Everquest and log into one of your Characters.
Now, go to the PC you will be running the MySEQ Client on. Be sure to download .NET from microsft on this PC as well as the first one. Go to http://www.dvolve.net/EQ/MySEQ and download MySEQ Client: 2.0.1 with Executable to your desktop. You also need to download Support DLL Files (MUST DOWNLOAD). Now, if this is an upgrade then you are done with downloading. If this is a new install you will need some maps. go here http://www.rexpage.com/MySEQ/default.asp?Action=Current at the bottom of this page you will see Maps ONLY 11-20-03 [ Download Here ]
**NOT NEEDED for Self-Installation Packages!
**Only provided as a convenience for some users.
download this file to your desktop.
Now that you have them both or all 3 on your desktop extract the MySEQ Client by right clicking and choosing extract. I always extract them to a folder on the desktop. now extract the Support DLLs to that same folder. If you needed to download the Maps as well then extract them to a folder called MAPS and place it in the client directory as well. Note: be certain the directory structure is something like MYSEQ Client 2.0.1/maps and not MySEQ Server 2.0.1/maps/maps this will not work. If you already have a previous installtion of an earlier client you can simply copy the MAPS directory from that install to the new directory.
Now, double click the igloo icon that says myseq. When the client launches you will see some messages about default directories, just keep hitting OK. Once it is up press F1 on your keyboard. In the whitespace beside SERVER IP Address 1: (Ctrl + 1) put the IP Address you wrote down earlier and click OK at the bottom. Then click OPTIONS and put the mouse pointer over SERVER SELECTION and you should see the IP Adress you put in. Click on it. Now press GO at the Bottom. If everything is working the Client should begin populating with the Info that is being sent by the MySEQ Server. Congratulations! You now have the upper hand.
