The Inventories of Quest NPC's

There are many NPC's in EverQuest that reward you with a random item for some quests, and other times nothing; what they give you is completely random.

Is there a way to see into the inventories of these NPC's in order to ensure a reward for questing?

Killing these NPC's is pointless because they do not drop the random item[s] they will reward you with.

Are these NPC's inventories just as hidden as Mobs that spawn throughout the game?

I would guess that this information is helt serverside and is not send to the client.

You dont see the loot of a mob until you kill it and loot it ;) (Only exception is when the loot has a graphic)
