Well, better late then never, showeq has finally made it into the official Debian repository.
http://packages.debian.org/experimental/net/showeq
It's in experimental at this time. I'm working to get it moved into unstable.
Ironically, things have taken so long the version that just made it into the repository is 5.0.0.14 :-(
I'm working with my sponsor to get 5.0.0.15 into repository asap.
The better news is that Debian specific issues can be tracked in BTS (bug tracking system):
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/pkgreport.cgi?pkg=showeq
A package overview, as well as notification of changes to the package, build logs, etc:
http://packages.qa.debian.org/s/showeq.html
