View Full Version : Ubuntu Install?
So I've tried compiling the showeq-5.1.0.0.tar.bz2, followed the steps in "how do I build showeq from source the debian way?", and also "where can i download the showeq ubuntu packages" (only to find they arn't there).
What can I do to get showEQ working on Ubuntu? All my previous SEQ experience is with version 4 on a RedHat distribution.

Hoary package are up.
All one of you ubuntu users didn't complain until now about not having packages.
Specific directions are located in my sig.
Thanks Tanner... sorry this is the first time I've ever used Ubuntu.
I've updated my /etc/apt/sources.list with the two lines in your FAQ, however i get the following output when running "apt-get install showeq" after "apt-get update"
~$ sudo apt-get install showeq
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree... Done
E: Couldn't find package showeq

post your /etc/apt/sources.list, just to confirm you got the right info in there.
% sudo apt-get update
<snip>
Then give me the output of
$ apt-get policy showeq
Mine looks like this:
$ apt-cache policy showeq

Thanks for the help.
Try:
$ apt-cache policy showeq
Well this morning I did another "sudo apt-get update" and it downloaded some new stuff from real-time. Then when I ran "sudo apt-get install showeq" I got the following:
$ sudo apt-get install showeq
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
showeq: Depends: libqt3c102-mt (>= 3:3.3.3) but it is not installable
E: Broken packages
So I went ahead and installed "libqt3-mt", and ran "sudo apt-get install showeq" again, with the same result.
Here is the result of my "apt-cache policy showeq"
$ apt-cache policy showeq
showeq:
Installed: (none)
Candidate: 5.1-3.hoary.1
Version table:
5.1-3.hoary.1 0

Any ideas?
I think I found the problem:
Ubuntu 5.10 _Breezy Badger_ - Preview i386 (20050908)
I installed the 5.04 Release in another VM and its working fine now. Sorry for the mix up and thanks everyone for your replies.

I'm actually having this exact same problem 0ct0... what exactly did you do to fix it?

The release I have available is for hoary, not breezy. Given enough time I can make a breezy release.

Now that breezy is the new pink, a package for it would be super spiffy :)
