Promiscuous Mode?

Just curious if I don't have a hub (but a switch instead) can I simply change the network card to promiscuous mode to get all packets sent to it?

No.

The network card already needs to be in promiscuous mode for SEQ to function.

A hub passes packets between the ports, a switch does not. There are managed swiches which you can have it forward the packets to another port.

Another option is to use ettercap (I have heard it has been done, but never tried).
