Sorry for all the spam on the forum. We have been hit bad in the last day or two and have been trying to keep it off. I banned over a dozen people in the last 2 days.

All I can say to the spammers is GO FUCK YOURSELVES!

I still think you should ban entire IP ranges, like: 123.456.*

Make an announcement thread about this being done, and if someone is affected who is an actual ShowEQ user to email yourself or another admin so they can remove the ban on that IP range.

Or make me an admin and I'll take on the task. We've pretty much eliminated all spam from the MQ2 forums and I don't think a single person complained (most were overseas IP addresses from Asia).

I don't know how many people take care of it, but the spam is usually removed in a very timely manner. Thank you.

It wouldnt do any good. I have checked the IPs almost every bot is using widely different subnets. Here are the ones from one thread.

219.133.200.223
221.6.135.66
58.37.191.19
113.96.28.76

Those are just the ones from one thread today. No repeat ips.

I also do not see a place to ban ips in this version.

Admin CP > VBulletin Options > User Banning Options

You can use wildcards too.




Banned IP Addresses

Use this option to prevent certain IP addresses from accessing any part of your board.

If you enter a complete IP address (242.21.11.7), only that IP will be banned.
If you enter a partial IP (243.21.11. or 243.21.11), any IPs that begin with the partial IP will be banned. For example, banning 243.21.11 will prevent 243.21.11.7 from accessing your board. However, 243.21.115.7 would still be able to access your board.

You may also use an '*' as a wildcard for increased flexibility. For example, if you enter 243.21.11*, many IPs will be banned including: 243.21.11.7, 243.21.115.7, 243.21.119.225.

Place a space or a line break between each IP address.

Thanks. I was am not very familiar with VBB. I use phpbb and sms for my boards. I would never have thought to look there for ip banning. It is fairly obscure.
