libEQ.a not found when using ./configure after downloading lattest version of libEQ.a

I have had ShowEQ running for some time now. I'm on Linux Mandrake release 8.0 (Traktopel) for i586. I have update via CVS the showEQ many times. I am finally taking the lattest copy of libEQ.a from smurfette.trifocus.net and replacing the copy i had in /usr/lib.

When I run ./configure i get the message "configure: error: libEQ.a not found. Be sure libEQ.a is already installed in /usr/local/lib or /usr/lib.". I have tried to put libEQ.a in /usr/local/lib also with the same results.

Any Ideas?

Well if your ShowEQ compiled before you got the new libEQ.a then you are using an OLD version. If that is the case you need to grab the new source from CVS, check out showeq...
