This is a known bug. Try setting the IP of the client session (Network -> Monitor EQ Client IP Address) and I expect it will start working.

Re: EQPacket Session Detected - Blank Window

Hi guys, would love to get someones assistance.

Did a full clean install (after 20years returning) using the below reference, which seemed to work.

    https://www.showeq.net/forums/showth...inux-Mint-20-1

Used latest MINT 21.3 version, with the SEQ current RC1.

Unfortunatley all I am getting is a blank screen.

Wireshark seems to see the packets, so network config looks ok.

Re: EQPacket Session Detected - Blank Window

    Startup looks normal.

I know you said wireshark sees the traffic, but the log suggests that SEQ isn't seeing the EQ traffic all.

    Some questions :

Is Wireshark running on the same host as ShowEQ or a different host? Are they set to use the same capture interface (ens33) or different interfaces?

In Wireshark, are you seeing EQ traffic? If you're in game, there should be lots of packets from eqzone-XXX.everquest.com (where XXX is a number) going to and from the EQ host.

Is the IP of the EQ host 192.168.1.99?

After you start ShowEQ, are you zoning your character to get ShowEQ to pick it up?

Re: EQPacket Session Detected - Blank Window

Ive been going through my original setup notes from around 2001 (yes, that long ago!) and funny enough I had a similar issue where the vmware adapter even in promiscuous mode does not see the non-broadcast packets for the host server (running EQ). So what I am going to do is configure my MINT Linux as an IP Router and then set it as the gateway for the host. This will force the EQ packets to be sent to/from the VM running SEQ. I haven’t done this on Linux in forever (think ip chains release) so fingers crossed. Im trying to avoid configuring port mirror on hardware as my PC is wifi. If you have any other ideas tho, on how to have the SEQ vm see the packets of the host, do let me know!

Unfortunately, I don't have suggestions on the VMware side of things, as I'm not very familiar with it.

Your plan to route through the SEQ VM sounds solid.

AFAIK, bridging, routing, and mirroring are really the only solutions currently. My plan for 7.x is to also support remote capture, but that's a ways off.

Re: EQPacket Session Detected - Blank Window

    That did the trick.

    - Configure SEQ VM with two interfaces.

    - Enable iptables routing (https://medium.com/@lfoster49203/setting-up-ubuntu-as-a-router-with-advanced-routing-features-4511abc5e1eb)

    - change default gateway of host PC running eqgame to point at SEQ VM.

Problem solved, SEQ vm now seeing all packets!-

ignore all of this, my brain always confuses VMware with VirtualBox.
